For this session I would come in wearing my full regalia Jingle Dress. I would begin by explaining the origin story of the Jingle Dress. Highly focusing on how the dress was given to us a mean of helping us heal and overcome. Leading into a one song dance performance. Following that, we will switch our focus on to more contemporary mental health issues that we all deal with today along with socio-economic issues. We take time to discuss the importance of self care. As well as touch on topics of suicide epidemics, the Residential school legacy, and MMIW&G (along with our men and boys). And how the Jingle Dress helps us cope and heal through these hardships. We will conclude the session with a group participation of us dancing the Jingle Dress Healing Side Step together, as a positive way of moving forward with everything we discussed.
